ongoing video series following the adventures of Girl
Hand-drawn animation with music composed by the artist
the ballet, 2014
The artist put half a year's time and energy toward attempting to understand her body through the structures of classical ballet. She built a moving metal prop/sculpture and engaged it in activities such as drawing (dragging the object across paper covered in graphite), and dancing (both improvisation and with choreography gleaned from YouTube videos of various professional ballet companies). The object and the ephemera created by the artist and object team were placed in a space measuring about 10' x 10', and guests were invited to look around and watch this accompanying video, which was projected on the wall of cardboard pictured in the video itself.
